KINSON TYRE SERVICE

The importance of wheel alignment

Incorrect alignment can result in rapid tyre wear and can affect the handling and safety of your vehicle.

Wheel alignment can be affected by driving against a kerb, hitting a pothole or excessive wear of suspension components. Alignment of wheels to the specification required by your vehicle is an important way to guarantee a smooth ride and to get the most out of your tyres.

The angle and direction at which your wheels are set are both important. Wheel alignment involves checking the angle against manufactures specifications, sometimes referred to as TOE IN or TOE OUT.

TOE refers to whether the front tyres are closer together than the rear of the tyres on the same axle.

It is worth keeping an eye out for unusual wear on your tyres, such as wear on the inside or outside edge which could be caused by incorrect alignment. Tyres should also be correctly balanced.
